The leader’s conference at the sapperlot - Day two
Theatre is life. Life is theatre.
These words best describe what was said at the Director's Conference when Thomas asked us about the Wow-moments that have influenced our theatre work. The moment when we knew that we wanted to make theatre, that we wanted to make theatre this way and no other way.
To get back to #theatreislife: Today's Director's Conference was also very lively. Instead of just talking, we did what we do best: Playing theatre games. The exercise was simple. Thomas said: “Everyone who has ever had stage fright gets up and changes places.” And we did. Not only to the question about stage fright … The things we learnt about the present play leaders made us smile, laugh and were sometimes very touching.
When someone asked the question at the end: "If you love the sapperlot, get up and change seats", it was clear that not a single chair remained occupied. And yes, we love you too, you fantastic, inspiring theatre people who enrich this sapperlot with your presence!
Thank you for being here!
Special Guest
Incidentally, we were honoured to welcome Joke Quaghebeur as a special guest today - "one of the five million presidents of the CEC", as Thomas disrespectfully introduced her. We are of course honoured that Joke is representing the Central European Committee here. But above all, she has come as a friend, which of course honours us even more.
