Kalambur, Ukraine
The Ukrainian group Kalambur performed the play “Because it’s my home” which tells the story of different young people who had to live through the war in the Ukraine and to leave their home behind. You showed us how much humanity is worth and that even just a pair of socks can make a great difference. You presented the peaceful side of the Ukraine and also the brutality of the gunshots and airstrikes that made us shiver. We loved the originality of you performing in your own language. Thanks to the subtitles we could keep up with understanding it. The projection of the shadow play, your choreography and the emotional music contributed to show us aspects of your life and events that happened to you. Even though most of us cannot fully comprehend everything you live through, you touched us deeply. It was really touching that you showed us that you will always stay Ukrainian by revealing traditional fabric hidden in your outfits, after each of you told their story. Now we are just curious what was written in the letter, read to only one person in the audience.
Many tears were shed in compassion for your people and your country. Your play was so beautiful and we know it came from your hearts. It will stay in our memories for a long time and we will remember you all, because it’s your home.
