I and You
Worldstage, USA
Worldstage presented a wonderful play that had us tied to our seats until the very end and that left all of us speechless and in denial. Because how can the beautiful friendship we watched unfold on stage turn into nothing but “you and I” in a matter of seconds? Caroline, who has not left her house in months due to her sickness and Anthony, who is just a guy from school, are two very different characters with very different lives that suddenly get intertwined because of a poem they have to analyse for school: Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass - a storytelling poem that they can relate to in their own ways which makes them relate to each other. They overcome the emotional distance between them, and they even fell on each other's faces once or twice ;)… but it is all an illusion, made up from Caroline's mind in surgery whilst receiving Anthony's liver as an organ donation.
Parker and Londyn, you made those characters come alive, it seemed like we were looking through the window of Caroline's home - it all just seemed so intimate, and you seemed so familiar with the stage - like you were made for it. The plot twist at the end left us all absolutely speechless. We are in awe of your acting and text memorizing skills - talking for an entire hour without ever losing the red thread and just making it all seem so casual - WOW. So thank you so much for travelling for so long to bless us with this wonderful story that will stay with us for a very long time. Thank you!
